Knowing Jesus

I was a substitute in Nursery today.  I took my almost one year old daughter in with me.  As the children were having play time, I was sitting in a chair by the wall, holding my daughter.  She wanted to stand up, so I let her stand on my lap.  She looked at the wall behind me and I saw this look of recognition come over her little face.  I turned around to see what she was looking at and there was a picture of Christ on the wall just over my shoulder.  I looked back at my daughter and asked her if she knew who that was.  I told her it was Jesus.  She got a huge grin on her face and leaned toward me.  I wasn't sure what she wanted until she let go of my fingers and laid her head on the picture of Christ.  She had her arms out like she was giving him a hug. She pulled away from the picture and smiled at me.  I said, "Yes, that is Jesus."  She leaned toward the picture again and gave it a kiss, and then another.  It was a moment I'll never forget. Kind of makes you wonder how thin the veil really is with these little children.

The Example of Children

As my wife and I were working last night, we glanced over at our 2 year old and found this:

He was looking for pictures of Jesus. What a great reminder that we need to be reading daily from the words of the prophets. I love how our little ones also make sure that we read the scriptures, have family prayer, and sing our primary song nightly. It is amazing the power little ones can have over adults, and even more astounding is the amount of love that they can extract from us as their parents. I also love how forgiving little ones are. I look forward to having our 5th child with in the next two weeks. What a blessing from the Lord.

Count Your Many Blessings

I love that Hymn.

I was sitting in Church today as that hymn was sung and it really hit me that I don't thank the Lord enough for all the blessings that I enjoy each and every day. How often do we go about our lives without stopping to thank the one who made all this possible? Do you ever stop and think where you would be in your life without your Savior?

I know that as I watch my kids playing and laughing, that I am a blessed man. What greater joy can a parent experience than that of their child's laughter? What a magical sound that is. And I find myself all to often being the one that puts the stop to the laughter with my need for order and obedience. That isn't bad per say, but I feel that I could be a little more patient- a little slower to anger. Thankfully one of the blessings of my babies is that they are quick to forgive me.

I know that there is a Father in Heaven, MY father. He was willing to send his only begotten son, Jesus Christ, to walk the earth and set an example for us. I am so thankful for that.

Remember that when life becomes a struggle, simply get on your knees and thank that Lord for all the blessings you enjoy. He will bless you and comfort you.

Take Care...
